Version 1.5: Mac, Apple Watch, CarPlay, and More

February 15, 2026 · earsay staff

earsay 1.5 is the biggest update since launch. The app now runs on Mac, Apple Watch, and CarPlay, and there are a bunch of new features that make daily listening better across all your devices.

Mac app

earsay is now a native Mac app built with Mac Catalyst. It isn't a watered-down companion. You get the full experience: browse podcasts, manage your library, listen with ad detection, and use the Sponsors Tab. Keyboard shortcuts and menu bar integration make it feel at home on the desktop.

If you already use earsay on your iPhone or iPad, iCloud sync means your subscriptions and queue are waiting for you the moment you open the Mac app.

CarPlay

You can now use earsay in your car. CarPlay support lets you browse your library, manage your queue, and control playback without touching your phone. Ad detection works the same as always, so you still skip ads hands-free.

Apple Watch

The Watch app (added in v1.5.2) gives you playback controls on your wrist. Play, pause, skip, and adjust speed with the Digital Crown. Complications let you see what's playing at a glance from any watch face.

iCloud sync

Your subscriptions, queue, and playback position now sync across iPhone, iPad, and Mac via iCloud. Start an episode on your commute and pick up where you left off on your Mac at work. iCloud sync is included with the in-app purchase that unlocks unlimited subscriptions.

Per-podcast settings

Different podcasts deserve different settings. You can now set playback speed, voice boost, and silence skip individually for each show. A fast-paced news briefing at 1.5x, a long interview at 1.0x with voice boost on. earsay remembers your preferences for each podcast.

Chapters

Podcasts that use Podcasting 2.0 chapters now show chapter markers in the player. Jump to the sections you care about or skip the ones you don't. Chapter titles and artwork appear as you listen.

Tip jar

If you want to go beyond the one-time purchase and support ongoing development, there's now a tip jar in the app. Entirely optional.

Better ad detection

The ad detection model has been improved, particularly for topic deviation patterns where hosts transition between content and sponsorship in more subtle ways. We've also rebuilt the audio engine in Swift for better performance and reliability.

Get the update

Version 1.5.3 is the latest release and is available now on the App Store. If you're new to earsay, the app is free with two podcast subscriptions. A one-time purchase unlocks unlimited subscriptions, iCloud sync, and OPML import.
