App Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the earsay mobile application ("App," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information. earsay is designed with privacy as a core principle—all audio processing happens entirely on your device.

Our Privacy Commitment

earsay is built on a simple privacy philosophy: your data stays on your device. We do not collect analytics, track your listening habits, or send your data to third-party services. The App does not require an account, and we have no way to identify individual users.

Information We Do NOT Collect

Unlike many apps, earsay does not collect:

• Personal information or account data (no sign-up required)
• Listening history or podcast preferences
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Location data
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Audio content or transcripts

Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following information locally on your device only:

Podcast Subscriptions & Episodes

Your podcast subscriptions, downloaded episodes, and playback progress are stored in the App's local database. This data never leaves your device and is not synced to any cloud service.

App Settings & Preferences

Your preferences (playback speed, skip intervals, voice boost settings, etc.) are stored locally on your device.

Sponsors Tab Data

When earsay detects sponsor segments in podcasts, the identified sponsor information is stored locally. All ad detection processing occurs entirely on-device using machine learning models that run locally—no audio is ever sent to external servers for analysis.

Network Requests

The App makes network requests only for the following purposes:

Podcast Feed Updates

When you subscribe to a podcast or refresh your feed, the App fetches the podcast's public RSS feed directly from the podcast publisher's server. We do not proxy these requests through our servers.

Episode Downloads

When you download an episode for offline listening, the App downloads the audio file directly from the podcast publisher's server.

Podcast Artwork

Album artwork and episode images are fetched directly from URLs specified in podcast feeds.

Important: These network requests go directly to podcast publishers' servers, not to earsay servers. We do not collect, log, or have visibility into your podcast subscriptions or listening activity.

On-Device Processing

earsay's key features all run locally on your device:

• Ad Detection: Machine learning models analyze audio on-device to identify sponsor segments. No audio leaves your device.
• Voice Boost: Audio enhancement processing occurs entirely on your device in real-time.
• Silence Skip: Silence detection and removal happens locally during playback.
• Transcription: If you use transcription features, all speech-to-text processing occurs on-device.

In-App Purchases

earsay offers optional in-app purchases through Apple's App Store. These transactions are handled entirely by Apple, and we do not receive or store your payment information. Apple's privacy practices apply to these transactions. See Apple's Privacy Policy for details.

Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party involvement is:

• Apple App Store: For app distribution and in-app purchases (Apple's privacy policy applies)
• Podcast Publishers: When fetching RSS feeds and downloading episodes (each publisher's privacy policy applies)

Data Retention & Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• Deleting the App removes all associated data from your device
• You can delete individual podcast subscriptions or downloaded episodes within the App at any time
• We have no data to delete on our end because we don't collect any

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the App does not collect personal information from any users, this applies equally to users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in this document with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
